SPITFIRE SCHNELL SCHNELL
Die Einflüsse von A.S.S.S. kommen sowohl von obskuren Garagenpunk und Soul der Sixties, als auch von allem was danach passiert ist und genauso rockt - Punkrock, Rock'n'Roll, Indie... Da die Bandmitglieder aus so verschiedenen Szenen wie Hardcore, Rockabilly, Surf, Punk, Wave und Indie kommen, ist die Musik von A.S.S.S. ein Mix, den die Band selbst 'Decent Soulful Garage Punk' nennt.

A.S.S.S. ist seit 1997 live unterwegs, wurde schon 1998 in der Presse als 'beste Live Band der Region' bezeichnet und hat damit schon früh den Ruf als die Rock'n Roll Band der Region begründet.

In the dogmatic and ridiculous world of Big Rock Biz, there’s something very comforting about just knowing that a band like Mannheims Bellsparx exists. That feeling comes from the group’s passion of sculpting a sincere and exciting brand of rock noise.
Bellsparx , genuinely appear to be far more like a gang of real, true friends who happened, quite fortuitously, to meet as a result of their mutual love of — eccentric refreshing rock and jazz that rarely finds airplay in big consumer radio, and who seem to enjoy each other’s company as much as they like designing, producing, recording and playing their own brand of dissonant harmonies.
Bellsparx forays into instrumental never never lands and their own instrumental arrangements of strangely familiar Zeppelin or Beatles songs. Snatch the listener by the ear and send them on a sonic adventure in which they might not want to return.

As one can imagine, with these diverse origins, many influences gush onto a sonic platter and coagulate into savagely beautiful arrangements.
The Bellsparx tools of musical implementation are also very important to the quality and creativity of their music:

Michael’s implementation of Gretsch hollowbodies, vintage Strats and classic Vox AC30s together with Fender Bassman amps and delays, lend muscle as well as a touch of math rock to the musical mixture.

Jens’ inextricably tortured GDR Volksamp and Jap Bass, give the listener the feeling that they are about to be arrested be the Stazi.

Ralfs’ tasteful and highly balanced drumming glue the formation together. But always be on the lookout for some concussive surprises!

Steve’s Hammond B3 and a load of effects lends an unmistakable idiosyncratic quality to round up the Bellsparx sound.

The trademark Bellsparx musical hooks and melodies simply won’t leave you alone no matter how you try to shoo them away.

But beware…..This is not music for the weak hearted!! 90db plus at a distance of 50 feet is commonplace at a Bellsparx engagement.

Heeg und Lambertson haben seit Jahren Filmmusik gemacht, für Filme die eigentlich nur in Ihren Köpfen existieren.

Der "Postpunk" Drummer aus Washington D.C. und der hemdlose Gitarrist aus Ohio haben ihren eklektischen Stil mit den Farben von Blues und Jazz des brillentragende Akademiker und Keyboarders Steve-O aus NYC zu einer einzigartigen Synthese verschmolzen, die dem kantigen Schlagzeug- und Guitarrenspiel eine verrauchte aber auch abgerundete Note verpasst.

Eigentlich wäre hiermit die Band komplett, wenn ihre grundlegende Neugier nicht dazu geführt hätte mit weiteren Klangwelten zu experimentieren. Die hierfür benötigten Hände und Füße gehören seit kurzem zu Ralf Philipp.., die sich an Rasseln, Tamborine und Congas zu schaffen machen und für den speziellen Akustik-Touch des Quartetts sorgen.

Diese Kombination macht bell sparx zu einem Powerimprovisation-Pendel, das zwischen explodierendem Postpunk, fettem Hammond Grooves, White Noise, Surf und Ambient hin und her schwingt.
